Choosing the Best Beach Tent

by GuestPoster on March 27, 2010

Are you in the market for a beach tent? They make a great addition to any day or vacation at the beach. If you have kids or toddlers these make a great place to escape the sand, sun and wind. Your kids will love their little fort to camp in you can rest assured that they will be protected from the suns harmful rays. It not only keeps you children happy and occupied but it also allows you to enjoy the beach as well. Here are a few things to consider when buying a beach tent:

  • Size – how large of a beach tent do you need? If it is just for one or two children then the smaller the better. If you plan to have a family use it then it needs to be larger. Don’t buy one so small that it becomes a hassle to use.
  • Use – do you plan on actually sleeping on the beach overnight or will you just use it during the day? If you plan on sleeping in it overnight it better be large enough, private enough and durable enough.
  • Ventilation – this is often overlooked. You need a beach tent that you can breathe in. Without proper ventilation the inside can be very uncomfortable. Make sure your tent has mesh opening for air and breeze to enter and escape. It will be much more enjoyable with good ventilation
  • Easy set up – the last thing you want to do is to have a headache. Find a tent that is easy to set up. You don’t want to spend an hour on the beach putting up a tent when you could be swimming in the water, enjoying a cool beverage or throwing a football with your kids.
  • Durability – Examine how the tent is made. Does it feel strong and durable? Sometimes you get what you pay for when you buy the cheap stuff. The material can fray, come apart or otherwise disintegrate on you.
  • Light Weight – Chances are that you will be carrying the tent from your car or hotel room. Make sure it is easy to carry. If it is a real pain in the neck to transport then you simply won’t use it.
  • Easy entry – is it easy to get in and out of your tent? How large is the opening? Make sure there it is plenty easy to get in and out of.
  • Storage pockets – These are a nice feature to have. Sometimes you want to hide your personal belongings and keep them out of sight. The storage pockets inside the beach tent is good spot to do that.
